"A Certain Kind of Prayer"
We grow into our spiritual identities over a lifetime. The taproot of such growth comes out of a clearer picture of our spiritual purpose in life.
It is important to recognize that a healthy sense of purpose is an “affair of the heart.” Trusting God, acting on that trust, brings our hearts into line with His purpose for us.
I’ve come to believe that when we arrive at and work out our clear sense of purpose, right relationships will a new large role. That’s where prayers from the heart can really save the day for those who pay close attention. Tough relationships require continued prayer and they involve Jesus, the other person, ourselves, even if that other person is not present. Out of this, at some point, comes newness of life.
As I began to learn this major “secret” of the Christian faith and put it into practice, I said to myself “whereas, before, I didn’t have a prayer, now I do!”
